Passivation Machine

Project Keys:

  • An obsolete PLC was replaced with a rack style PLC and LCD operator interface
  • The new PLC makes extensive use of timing and discrete I/O to keep track of multiple, independent batches processed by the machine
  • A Quadrature Encoder was added, replacing 9 switches, providing improved machine control sequence, reliable throughput and drum placement accuracy
  • This machine was schedule for replacement with a new larger unit to meet the customers growing demands, the upgrade now allows it to operate with capacity to spare
CNC Control System/Retrofit

Project Keys:

  • Three axis CNC control system
  • PC based Open Control format running on standard Windows
  • Real time control handled by the embedded motion control card
  • 3 axis of digital brushless servo for smooth speed, and high resolution position control
  • Typical CNC operator panel, including feed rate overrides, and hand wheel encoder
